Misconception about losing weight

Posted by iqko | March 1st, 2010 in Diet and Health | No Comments »

Losing excess weight is always good, no matter how slim

This is actually a misconception. The way to lose weight is not negligible. Lose weight and then subjected to the yo-yo effect (rapid recovery of lost weight after a diet) can strain the heart, cause gallstones and disrupt your metabolism. It is better to adopt a healthy diet and regular exercise program to lose weight in a stable manner (experts recommend weight loss of 0.5 kilograms per week), rather than trying to lose weight too quickly following schemes hyper or too restrictive low calorie to lose much weight, only to return immediately to stop these unbalanced diets.

The eating disorders like anorexia nervosa and bulimia are very different regimes that cause the yo-yo effect, but these disturbances pose numerous risks similar in terms of health, and so are threats to life healthy. Anorexia and bulimia can lead to diseases such as cardiac arrhythmia and other serious health problems due to electrolyte imbalances. The purge or repeated vomiting may severely strain the heart and damage the teeth due to exposure to stomach acid (hydrochloric acid and pepsin are both irritants produced by the stomach).

It is healthier to have an excess weight of 2 to 5 kilograms as weight loss and gaining weight constantly. Losing excess weight is good for health but only if weight loss occurs in a healthy and balanced, slow and does not yo-yo. Losing excess weight is not good if the way to lose weight is bad.

obesity

Obesity, if it is not a recent problem becomes an issue of growing concern. Even if France has not yet reached the status of the United States, it follows the same trend. State of Play.
40% of French too big?

The National Institute of Health and Medical Research in collaboration with the SOFRES and the Roche Institute for Obesity has just made public its national survey (ObEpi 2000) on overweight and obesity in adults.

Result: 13 million people are living in overweight and more than 4 million are obese. The number to remember: almost 40% of French are concerned with a weight problem.
A worrying development

Most disturbing is the comparison with the similar survey conducted in 1997, while overall the average size of the population has not budged (168 centimeters), the French took 1 kilo … While France had a rate obesity lowest in Europe, we’re aware, with several years of delay, the same problems as the United States. With such progress, one in five will be obese by 2020 …
All concerned

Looking in detail the results of the study, one can see several differences. Thus, men are more affected than women: 46.3% have a weight problem against 31.6% of women. The profession also influences. The categories with a greater number of obese people are artisans, tradesmen, farmers and workers.
